Cabinetry- Senior Design Engineer

Position Summary:

This position directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions:

• New product designs, from conceptual through detail design phases
• Create and track schedules using Microsoft Project, or equivalent
• Manage projects from initial drawing release to liaison support and product delivery
• Maintain metrics to track budget and schedule requirements
• Manage prototype construction and testing
• Work with supply chain to identify and develop vendors 
• Create and present concepts/products to internal and external customers
• Create test plans, conduct testing and documenting results
• Technical presentations to internal and external customers
• Product definition and requirements development and creation of statement of work (SOW)
• Creating and validating new designs (modeling/drafting/BOM creation)
• Materials research and selection to support design requirements
• Qualification test plan/report creation and management
• Manufacturing liaison support
• Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications
• Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
• Develop and maintain engineering standard work
• Acts as a mentor and provides feedback for lower level engineers
• Participates in peer technical reviews and final design sign-off
• Participate in project bids and proposals for bid hours and technical compliance

Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask
• Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
• Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required
• Excellent communication both written and verbal
• Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
• Working knowledge of FAA and MIL testing standards
• Experience with FAA and military certification
• Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience in SolidWorks and Enterprise PDM, or equivalent
• Working knowledge of aerospace materials and standards
• Familiarity with working with ERP system

Education, Certifications and Experience:

• BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace from ABET accredited institution
• 10–15 years’ experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
