Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Software Engineer to join our growing team! In this role you will get to participate as a junior software engineer sustaining a satellite ground control system used by the United States Space Force.

We are supporting a fast-paced, dynamic environment to analyze and develop software capabilities used by the United States Space Force (USSF), the United States Air Force (USAF), and the Department of Defense (DoD). Our team is looking for a software engineer that is in the early stages of their career with a strong analytical focus, attention to detail, and excellent development skills.

The physical location for this role will be in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is a 90% on-site effort, with potentially 10% being able to be supported remotely.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Analyzes, designs, and develops computer software required to support hardware or technical service products.

  • Reviews system architecture and selects and implements appropriate development and support tools to ensure product performance.

  • Tests and debugs related software.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Active Secret DoD Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or technical discipline with less than 5 years of industry experience. Relevant experience, applicable training and/or certifications may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
  • Experience developing and maintaining software features in C++
  • Experience with Satellite Operations, TT&C systems, sustainment, or similar experience related to Ops
  • Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of software security principles and best practices, including secure coding and data protection
  • Knowledge and understanding of software development lifecycles
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible environment, and take the initiative to learn new tools and concepts quickly

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience developing unit tests for programs written in the C++
  • Familiarity with SQL Server
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.
  • Experience with using version control software and process (Git)
  • Experience working in an Agile Software Development environment (Scrum)
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab and Jira
  • Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
  • Ability to manage and optimize virtual machines and resources
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with cloud-based server management and deployment
  • Experience with server operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux, or Unix

Salary Range: 

$70,500.00 - $123,400.00
