This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Cole Engineering Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Global Purchasing and Supply Chain team is seeking a buyer to support our Customer Care and Aftersales (CCA) organization. As a Customer Care and Aftersales Buyer at General Motors, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Manage the purchase and on-going supply of parts for our service customers
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with our related supplier partners
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements
- Work with Engineering, Production Purchasing and Supply Chain, and CCA team partners to address purchase or supply risks
This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate .
Additional Description
Required Experience / Skills:
- Experience: 2+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics or product development.
- Self-motivation: Self-starter. Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Collaboration: Capability to work cross-functionally, both internally and externally, while building relationships.
- Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional teams to manage projects.
- Multitasking and Prioritization: Organizational skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical competency to tackle complex problems.
- Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated experience in negotiating.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Purchasing Knowledge: Understanding of purchasing processes.
- Travel: Willingness to travel on a limited basis (5% or less) including internationally.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Automotive Experience: Understanding of the automotive industry and proven ability to manage related challenges.
- Materials Management: Experience in managing supply chain processes and procurement strategies to reduce operational costs.
- Market Data Interpretation: Ability to evaluate market trends and demand forecasts to drive purchasing decisions.
- Engineering Document Proficiency: Competent in reading technical blueprints and basic engineering documents to support project planning and purchasing decisions.
- Contract Law Knowledge: Experienced in the legal aspects of purchasing including in relation to purchasing processes and negotiations.
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred: Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related advanced degree a plus.
