Business Technology Solutions Associate Consultant
ZS's Business Technology Solutions team leads end-to-end project responsibility across all phases - discovery, requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and operations. This team seeks diverse technology challenges and fosters continuous innovation that benefits individual professional growth while delivering best-in-class technology solutions. The team takes overall ownership of solution delivery, managing operations services, client stakeholder management, business development, project planning, and team management.
We are seeking a hands-on and driven Data Engineer Associate Consultant with 3-5 years of professional experience to join our Business Technology Solutions - Supply Chain & Manufacturing team. The successful candidate will bring strong data engineering skills across cloud platforms, Python/PySpark, and SQL, along with the ability to lead a small team of associates in delivering high-quality technical solutions. This is not an individual contributor role - you will be expected to take ownership of delivery modules, interact directly with clients, and contribute meaningfully to solution design thinking. You will work closely with senior consultants and architects while independently managing your team's and your individual output, timelines, and quality.
What you'll do :

• Translate business requirements into technical designs and lead hands-on implementation for assigned modules and workstreams.
• Take ownership of solution quality within your scope - applying data quality validations, best coding practices, and thorough testing to ensure accurate and actionable business insights.
• Manage and mentor a small team of associates, distributing tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring consistent delivery against project timelines and quality benchmarks.
• Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for clients - participating in status calls, design discussions, and requirement walkthroughs with clarity and professionalism.
• Work with technical architects and senior team members to validate solution design and implementation approach, escalating risks and blockers proactively.
• Support the project lead in planning activities including sprint planning, effort estimation, and work breakdown for the team.
• Guide and contribute to the delivery of key project artifacts - solution designs, user requirements, technical architecture documents, test cases, deployment plans, and project & operations documentation.
• Apply SDLC or Agile development methodologies and contribute to continuous team improvement through retrospectives and process feedback.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and cloud-based data solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and architects.
• Actively contribute to business problem-solving exercises, bringing technical depth and structured thinking to design decisions.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, MIS, or a related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years of hands-on professional experience in data engineering or data management, delivering small to medium-scale technology solutions.
• Deep expertise in cloud data platforms - like AWS, Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake - with strong working knowledge of data lake and data warehouse architectures.
• Strong proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL; capable of writing production-quality code and reviewing the work of junior team members.
• Solid understanding of RDBMS concepts, big data processing, ETL/ELT design patterns, and data quality frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience leading a small team or workstream: task distribution, progress tracking, and mentorship of junior associates.
• Ability to engage directly with clients in day-to-day project delivery interactions - this will not be an individual contributor role.
• Experience translating business problems into technical design solutions with a structured, analytical approach.
• Working knowledge of AI tools (e.g., AI-assisted development, use of LLM-based tooling etc.)
• Hands-on experience in AI engineering or agentic development (LLM orchestration, RAG pipelines, autonomous agents) is a strong plus.
• Supply chain or manufacturing domain experience is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills - ability to structure technical ideas clearly for both engineering and business audiences.
• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into straightforward frameworks and client-ready presentations or documentations.
• Comfortable working in a virtual, global team environment and contributing to delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including familiarity with algorithms and data structures.
• Team-first mindset with a coaching orientation - invested in the growth and development of junior team members.
• We operate in a hybrid setup and candidate's in-office presence would be required based on the same. Travel to client sites may also be required.
