Summary:
As an Open Daylight Plugin Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain southbound or service layer plugins within the Open Daylight SDN controller. Your primary focus will be integrating microwave transport equipment e.g. Huawei RTN series, into SDN environments using protocols such as NETCONF/YANG, SNMP, SOAP, or proprietary APIs. You will work closely with SDN architects and network teams to support various use cases, including service provisioning, fault management, and topology discovery.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Expected to perform independently and contribute as a Subject Matter Expert SME.
- Collaborate with SDN architects and network teams to define integration use cases.
- Design, develop, and maintain Open Daylight plugins for microwave network elements.
- Integrate microwave equipment using NETCONF, SNMP, SOAP APIs, or custom interfaces.
- Develop and expose YANG-based RPCs via RESTCONF/Northbound interfaces.
- Participate in lab and field testing, debugging, and validation of controller-device interaction.
- Document plugin architecture, YANG models, and integration workflows.
- Stay updated with the latest SDN technologies and Open Daylight developments.
- Contribute in providing solutions to SDN-related integration challenges.
Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Open Daylight development Karaf, OSGi, Maven.
- Strong Java development skills with experience in Blueprint XML, OSGi bundles, and REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with YANG models, NETCONF, and SDN integration.
- Familiarity with Huawei microwave devices e.g, RTN9052F and management tools e.g, U2000.
- Good To Have Skills: Experience with SOAP, SNMP, and CLI/MML integration for network devices.
- Understanding of SDN, NFV, and transport network concepts.
- Recommendation: Experience in fault management, topology modeling, and energy monitoring systems.
