Qualifications/Requirements
● Minimum BA degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
● At least five years of experience in school accounting or applicable experience in business
accounting, including budget preparation, forecasting, and implementation.
● Familiarity with computerized accounting spreadsheets, software, and databases. Google
Suite experience preferred.
● Ability to communicate and work with all staff and community members in a positive
manner.

Tasks of the Business Manager
School Operations
● Responsible for procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment.
● Works with key personnel, such as Facilities Manager, Lunch Coordinator, Technology
Manager, Transportation Liaison, Athletic Director, and Special Education Supervisor,
to monitor and audit expenses and 3rd party contracts.
● Prepare monthly financial reports.
● Attend Public Board meetings.
● Attend monthly finance committee meetings and other committee meetings as needed.
● Respond to and resolve routine internal and external inquiries regarding financial
information with parents, employees, and school organizations.
● Acting member of the Development Committee
● Train and support staff in the use of the online PO System
● Support staff with guidance and fee collection for various school programs
● Support staff and club advisors in building and creating budgets for ongoing activities
● Responds to inquiries of charter authorizers as needed.
Financial Administration
● Responsible for the development, forecasting, and monitoring of the yearly budget.
● Recommend financing and investment options in collaboration with BOT and CEO
● Review monthly financial reports and update monthly financial estimate templates.
● Manage and reconcile the school’s authorized bank accounts and petty cash funds.
● Oversee AP, district billing (AR), and payroll processes.
● Weekly determines what AP checks to print and sends a report to the CEO, Board
Treasurer, and President for approval.
● Approve purchase orders and vendor (ex: Amazon) purchases.
● Reconcile monthly AMEX billing.
● Manage quarterly reviews and year-end audits with outside accountants, as well as any
site audits from State or Federal agencies. (Facilities, Federal Grants, etc.)
HR Responsibilities
● Responsible for reviewing benefit plans yearly (along with HR & CEO) working with a
broker to secure plans for the schools employees.
● Prepares pay calculations for employees on disability.
● Review payout calculations for terminated employees and bi-weekly pay calculations for
new staff hired throughout the year.
● Report 403B contributions and Alternative PSERS each pay period
● Reviews and approves payroll prepared by the Human Resources Coordinator.
● Make bi-weekly federal and state payroll deposits
● Review/Audit CEO and HR calculations on Salaries, Bonus and Stipends
Reporting Responsibilities
● Monthly board reporting
● Quarterly and annual federal grant reports
● Quarterly and annual IDEA reports
● Annual budget PDE 2028
● Annual Financial Report AFR PDE 2057
● Annual child accounting reporting – PIMS
● Monthly and Annual PSERS reporting
● Annual Charter School Report – assigned sections on fiscal solvency, assets, etc.
● Annual 990 reporting information (as required by accountants)
● Annual ACT 16 Contingency Fund reporting - PIMS (special education costs)
● Annual Financial Information for Health Reimbursements SHARRS and Lunch Report
CNPEARS
● Provide data/reports for other state reports grants, as needed by school leadership
Other duties
● Right to Know Officer – responsible for answering formal information requests from the
public.
● Title 1 Coordinator
● Attend Executive Sessions of the Board of Trustees as needed.
● Attend Administrative Adjunct meetings regularly.
● Responsibilities of liaison to the Franklin Commons Condominium Association
● Supervise and support Bookkeeper.
● Attend relevant training conferences as requested/required by the CEO or per PDE.
● Attend Annual Leadership Planning exercises as requested/required by the CEO. ●
Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.
