General Responsibilities

               Responsible for performing a variety of duties to meet the business loan, deposit, and cash management services needs of Bank customers; implementing strategies to achieve goals as established in the Bank’s annual operating plan; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the business services function; communicating with appropriate management and staff personnel; providing periodic reports. Will generally be expected to manage a loan portfolio of $40 million or more.

Essential Duties

                Performs a variety of duties to meet the business service needs of business customers as follows:

  • Solicits new business from present and prospective customers, maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.  Works to achieve annual loan and deposit growth, retention, referral, and asset quality goals.
  • Serves as a member of the Bank’s sales team, i.e. Branch staff; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.
  • Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a regular basis; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis.
  • Actively sources and develops prospects and referrals to other departments (e.g. insurance) to support growth goals.
  • Maintains a general knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services to ascertain customer needs and to provide services in conjunction with these needs.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures which impact business lending and services.
  • Provides direct service to business customers of the Bank with respect to deposit, loan and other miscellaneous products and services; approves or rejects loan applications within individual lending authority.
  • Conducts loan interviews with prospective loan customers; counsels prospective customers on loan requirements and Bank lending policies.
  • Reviews and analyzes applications and credit investigation information.
  • Analyzes business and personal financial information in order to access risks and determine pricing.
  • Manages the cash management product installation, implementation, maintenance, and product training process.
  • Manages and coordinates cash management product file limit approvals and recommendations for completion of the risk assessment, issuance, renewal, increase, decrease or termination. 
  • Expected to work all minor delinquencies in order to keep loans under 30 days past due.
  • Assists the Resource Recovery Department in the workout or collection process as needed and as may be requested or required by the Credit Administration Manager.
  • Expected to maintain proficient knowledge of special loan initiatives such as Small Business Administration (SBA), Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLB), Banking on Business (BOB), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Guarantee Program, etc.

May attend sales and trade meetings as a Bank representative to develop new business and to gain information and leads on new business relationships.

Attends networking and community events as appropriate to build referral relationships, actively identify and solicit new business opportunities, and to promote services of the Bank.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: A B.S. or B. A. degree in a business-related field normally required; specialized business lending education and training; specialized cash management education/training.

Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures; a thorough knowledge of bank regulatory requirements as they relate to business lending; proficient technology skills; visual and auditory skills; valid driver’s license.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years' experience in related lending positions is normally required.
