Position: Business Intelligence Solutions/Data Warehouse Architect
Location: Long Island City, Queens, NY
Duration: Long term
Requirement:
• The primary responsibility of Business Intelligence Solutions/Data Warehouse Architect will be to provide thought leadership, and end-to-end solution architecture & design of large scale business Intelligence / data warehouse solution for the Office of School Support Services (OSSS).
• The Architect will participate in proposing, designing, and implementing solutions following the best practices of business intelligence / data warehouse solution architecture, standards, methodology and tools used. The Architect will be responsible for developing standards for data governance programs.
• Candidate will be work with database support team to build an inventory of data needed to implement the architecture. She/he will have in-depth knowledge in data modelling (logical and Physical) and should be able to create data models.
• Candidate will have experience agile development methodologies and should be able to find the right balance between doing it now and doing it right.
• Candidate will take responsibility to ensure architectural requirements like scalability, security, performance, reliability, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity and archiving strategy are implemented within solutions.
• Candidate will be expected to liaise with senior client executives, provide in-depth technical needs analysis and advise solution teams on database configuration/design and utilization.
• The architect will present and implement solutions and recommendations, which are seen as leading edge in the industry. The role would involve working with different departments within OSSS supporting vendor implementations in various systems and solutions from multiple vendors and NYC Agencies
Mandatory Experience / Skills:
• 8+ years experience with SQL Server based Business Intelligence solutions is required
• 8+ years of Data Warehousing solution architecting Experience
• 4+ years experience in a solution architect or development lead role in a data warehousing environment
• 4+ years of experience with enterprise application integration software is desirable
• 4+ years of Business Intelligence Solution developer and ETL developer experience
• 4+ years of working on Data governance initiatives.
• Expertise in developing and delivering working documents that communicate and corroborate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical teams.
Identify technical and operational risks early and provide mitigation plans and strategies to address the risks
Preferred skills:
• Understands DW Implementation services and is able to assist the Application Development and Infrastructure teams in defining the scope of work and effort estimates to implement the solution
• Fully understands the business requirements and translates the business requirements and conceptual model into technical requirements and communicates these to the Application Development and Infrastructure teams
• Understands, Documents, and/or creates the Logical and Physical database design including the source to target data mapping and ETL processes
• Partners with Business Intelligence Team to conduct workshops to influence, and scope POC criteria and co-lead teams to conduct POCs
• Design, and develop data warehouse solutions and lead the technical DW team for successful deliveries
• Articulate clearly the benefits of the Data Warehouse and partner with BI team to communicate externally and internally across the organization (including senior decision-makers and key influencers) the advantages of DW and BI.
• Assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs)
