What’s the role?
The ERP Business Analyst is pivotal in managing and optimizing the organization's materials management software systems (Fishbowl) and transition to our ERP system (SAP). This position will provide enterprise systems/business analysis for various projects for enterprise applications, focusing mainly on our current Fishbowl solution and transition to a SAP ERP solution. The purpose of the ERP Business Analyst is to ensure smooth business operations and a continuous improvement of the ERP solution in accordance with the business strategy. The role demands strategic oversight, technical expertise, and a proactive system management and process improvement approach.

Here’s what you’ll do:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications.
- Play a leading role in optimization of system (Fishbowl or SAP) tools, enhancement, and upgrade projects.
- Work with key users to support User Acceptance Tests (UAT).
- Work with business counterparts to define common solution roadmaps based on business strategy.
- Ensure that solutions are consistent with application standards and the long-term vision.
- Closely align with the Meditec IT team in Germany.
- Develop and provide training for Fishbowl and SAP users.
- Create and maintain technical and end user documentation.
- Manage and assign system authorizations to users based on their job role and duties.
- Manage system data tables to ensure integrity and compliance with audit standards.
- Ensure adherence to all quality management plans and standards.
- System Mastery and Optimization: Serve as the lead technical expert for Fishbowl and SAP, ensuring optimal system configuration and performance and the provided master data and supply chain parameters are set-up in the system properly.
- Enhancements and Upgrades: Plan, test, and validate system enhancements and upgrades to ensure seamless integration and improved functionality within existing workflows.
- Business Intelligence Reporting: Create, manage, and communicate reports and KPIs to drive informed business decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely data feeding into reports.
- Data Integrity and Hierarchy Management: Establish and enforce methods to ensure data accuracy and a well-structured item hierarchy, supporting effective analysis and reporting.
- User Support and Collaboration: Act as the primary technical support resource for system (Fishbowl, SAP, forecasting or WMS bolt-on, etc.) users, addressing issues and collaborating on solutions to meet diverse needs.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the department manager or other management team members.
Do you qualify?
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or another IT-related field.
- Minimum 5 years working experience in a role directly related to this position.
- Implementation experience with a major ERP system (e.g. SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, etc.).
- Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food) is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills paired with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work across organizational boundaries in a large, global matrix organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to maintain current knowledge of all technological developments and to seek opportunities to deploy new technologies that benefit Carl Zeiss Meditec.
PREFERED
- SAP implementation experience as a consultant or SAP customer in a technical role.
- Experience using/managing a Business Intelligence system, e.g. PowerBI, Looker, etc.
- Working knowledge of SD, MM, & PP modules in a major ERP system.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations. Able to present information professionally and respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies. Competency in writing reports, business correspondence, protocols, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts relating to fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Relies on experience, education, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have excellent general knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite software, including an expert level in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Fishbowl or SAP) is a prerequisite.
