Business
Intelligence Analyst – Metro Vancouver
Metro
Vancouver is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to support the
Liquid Waste Services Business Strategy and Improvement Team. The project
focuses on analyzing large datasets from multiple systems and transforming data
into meaningful business insights through SQL, Power BI, Power Query, and
data modelling.
The
resource will be responsible for requirements gathering, data profiling,
source-system analysis, technical specifications, BI/EDW framework development,
ETL/data pipelines, dashboards, reporting, and documentation/standards
development. The role also involves advanced Power BI Service capabilities such as Dataflows, Datamarts, security, workspaces, and automated
data refresh. Microsoft Fabric experience is considered a strong asset.

Skills Required
- Strong SQL and relational database experience, including SQL Server and Oracle
- Power BI development and analytics experience
- Advanced Power BI Service experience with Dataflows, Datamarts, workspace and security configuration, and automated data refresh
- Power Query or M Query experience
- DAX experience
- Data modelling and visualization experience
- Data profiling and source-data analysis experience
- Data warehouse or EDW architecture and reusable BI framework development experience
- Experience with data lakes, ODS, ETL or ELT, and data pipelines
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, REST APIs, and OLAP cubes
- Ability to create technical specifications and design documentation
- Requirements gathering and translating business requirements into technical specifications
- Business analysis experience
- Documentation and standards development experience
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
