On behalf of one of its clients, a consultancy company in Engineering & Technology, the French Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Business Development Manager based in Malaysia.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Developer to drive growth and expand our market presence in Malaysia (peninsular and insular).
He/She will be reporting to the General Manager on Singapore mother-company and will be based in Senai, Johor, Malaysia.
This role involves, strong existing client follow-up (field meetings, reply to tenders, proposals set up with technical team and follow up), identifying new business opportunities (Both for new and existing clients), developing strategic partnerships (strategic sales and contract plans), and fostering strong client relationships with regular follow up meetings.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Mechanical or Material Engineering, as well as deep understanding of the service industry, excellent communication skills and easy contacts.
To carry out your mission, you will work closely with Technical and Operation teams in both Singapore and Malaysia.
This position is currently focusing on Malaysia for the next years. If selected candidate is successful the position could evolve into more regional scope, with possible relocation in Singapore (APAC headquarter).
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve order and revenue targets.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with potential and existing clients.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company’s client base.
• Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities.
• Prepare and deliver compelling business proposals, presentations, and contracts.
• Conduct market research to identify industry trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
• Monitor sales performance, track key metrics, and provide regular reports to management.
• Exhibit a proactive leadership approach and mentorship to internal teams, inspiring teams to take ownership to align business actions.
• Continuously challenge and follow up with the technical and operational teams to ensure seamless execution of client requirements and business commitments.
• Foster a collective achievement mindset by working closely with all teams to ensure aligned goals and mutual success.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or Business/Marketing (with technical background).
• Proven experience (10 to 15 years) as a Business Development Manager, Sales Executive, or in a similar role within a service-based company.
• Ability to perform with minimal guidance, be proactive, results-oriented with a strong drive to succeed. (Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and motivate teams.
• Familiarity with contract negotiation and proposal writing.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent English is compulsory; Fluent Malay is great advantage.
