About the role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business growth through the acquisition of new clients and the successful sale of Managed IT Services, Cloud Services, Cybersecurity offerings, and professional IT solutions. This role is primarily focused on hunting for new opportunities, developing strong relationships, and securing multi‑year Managed Service contracts that contribute to the organisation’s long-term revenue and market expansion.

What you’ll do
Business Development & Sales
- Drive new business growth, managing the full sales cycle for Managed Services and recurring revenue.
- Meet or exceed sales targets through proactive prospecting, networking, and industry engagement.
- Build and maintain a strong, sustainable sales pipeline.
Client Engagement
- Understand client needs and challenges through discovery and relationship building.
- Present tailored solutions that deliver clear business value to senior stakeholders.
Solution & Commercial Management
- Collaborate with technical and service teams to develop proposals and SOWs.
- Manage forecasting, CRM accuracy, and preparation of proposals, contracts, and pricing in line with standards.
What you’ll bring
- 3+ years’ experience in the IT industry, with proven success in business development within an MSP or technology services environment.
- Strong track record selling Managed Services contracts ($50k+ per month) in KPI-driven sales organisations.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud, modern workplace, and cybersecurity solutions.
- Established network across SMB, mid-market, or enterprise customers, with experience engaging senior decision-makers.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated, autonomous sales professional with a high-performance, hunter mindset.
- Experience using CRM platforms such as Autotask, HubSpot, or Salesforce.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience responding to tenders or formal procurement processes.
- Broad range of contacts in Asset Intensive Industries, preferably Mining and Energy, with adjacent industry networks of high value also (i.e. utilities)
- Knowledge of ITIL or service management frameworks.
- Relevant qualifications in Business, IT, Sales, or a related field.
