Join us as our new Business Development Manager at Novonesis
You will be part of our Venture Development & Support team, with a key focus on expanding the activities of our Biopharma Processing Aids Venture and building a differentiated portfolio of processing aids for the biopharmaceutical industry. This new position is dedicated to strengthening the venture by identifying and assessing key business development opportunities within the biopharma space.
You will work closely with other Novonesis functions to ensure valuable input and strong support for venture activities and to help shape the future portfolio of biopharma processing aids.
You will interact with a broad range of external partners and stakeholders, including biopharma companies, CDMOs (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations), and technology providers. Your external contacts will include business development professionals, scientific and technical experts, and senior decision‑makers across the biopharma ecosystem.
In this role, you’ll make an impact by driving the Venture’s opportunity pipeline and contributing directly to its commercial and strategic development, with a particular emphasis on identifying and maturing opportunities within bioprocessing and the broader biopharma value chain. This includes identifying new opportunities, strengthening partnerships, shaping strategic direction, and leading business development initiatives that accelerate the growth of our Biopharma Processing Aids portfolio.
Your key tasks will include:
- Identifying and validating biopharma‑relevant opportunities through market landscaping, customer and expert engagements, prototyping, and participation in industry fairs and events
- Conducting comprehensive market analyses to assess strategic fit, business potential, and feasibility of opportunities within the biopharma processing landscape
- Developing go‑to‑market and pricing strategies and identifying the capabilities required to scale opportunities in bioprocessing applications
- Identifying, maturing, and managing strategic partnerships with customers and collaborators across the biopharma value chain
- Leading and managing projects, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams to execute business development opportunities and deliver impactful outcomes
- Contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the Biopharma Processing Aids Venture and its future portfolio
We are looking for someone who:
- Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys shaping new opportunities
- Brings strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work creatively and strategically with both commercial and technical challenges
- Is persistent in moving opportunities forward and comfortable engaging and negotiating with external partners
- Can communicate complex technical insights in a way that resonates with customers and partners within biopharma and bioprocessing
You are likely to bring some of the following:
- A master’s degree and/or PhD in a relevant life‑science field (e.g., Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharma, Engineering), combined with strong business acumen
- 5+ years of experience in business development, strategic project management, consulting, or similar roles within pharma, biotech, CDMO, or related life‑science industries
- Experience from the pharma value chain is considered a distinct advantage
- A strong understanding of R&D and the ability to translate technical insights into strategic and commercial opportunities
- Experience working with external partners, customers, and matrixed organizations
- Strong project management skills and the ability to independently drive multiple initiatives
- Excellent English communication skills—written, spoken, and in presentations
