In a nutshell 

We’re looking for an ambitious, positive, energetic, and intelligent Business Development Director to join our New Business team. As a Business Development Director, you'll identify new business opportunities to generate revenue, improve profitability, and help the business grow, whilst supporting the wider business with cross-selling.

Your work will often reach across all areas of the business, and you will have the chance to work alongside some of the best insight, strategy, and creative experts across the industry. You’ll be working collaboratively with these expert consultants to win exciting new projects and be at the forefront of the latest innovations in the consulting space.


You’ll report to the Managing Partner, Growth and Imagination, and will manage and support a team of three Senior Business Development Executives.

 

 

The role  

We need a Business Development Director to help us win new clients and build on the commercial energy of our ambitious team. 80% of your target will be concentrated on complete origination of opportunities within our clients' businesses. This involves selling the broader Yonder proposition to other divisions within the client's organisation where we currently have no relationships, and neither do our direct clients. The remaining 20% of your target will focus on large strategic opportunities within existing client relationships, where you will elevate our proposals and pitches to increase our conversion rate.


You’ll work closely with the Managing Partner, Growth and Imagination, supporting them in the creation and piloting of innovative ideas and services, which shape our proposition, as well as, outbound strategies. With the Business Development team, you will implement these strategies for client leads through workshops, events, etc. Partnering with the Marketing team and others in the business, you’ll develop ideas for content and initiatives, keeping ahead of trends and changes in the business world. 


This role is focused on adding value and injecting imagination throughout the business development process. You’ll be expected to generate ideas and proactively find ways to elevate the quality of proposals. You’ll handle discovery meetings superbly, asking the most impactful questions, and you’ll support and train the wider business to do the same, enabling the highest quality of understanding.

 

 

Your skills & experience 

  • You are a seasoned Sales professional and have worked in the world of Consulting.
  • You are able to demonstrate how you’ve met/exceeded your sales targets with proven success in closing sales and managing sales pipelines.
  • You have an appetite for understanding the needs of businesses across a range of sectors and keeping abreast of trends and changes in the business world.
  • You have a creative mindset, are confident in idea generation, and are excited about innovation that can drive our proposition forward.
  • You are adept at training, mentoring, and empowering others to deliver best-in-class sales performance.
  • You are confident in writing exceptional proposals, leading pitches, and negotiating sales.
  • You enjoy line managing and helping your team to develop and grow to their potential.
  • You have excellent senior stakeholder and client management.
  • With a strategic growth mindset, you seek out opportunities to raise the bar and deliver consistently exceptional results and outputs.
  • You have proven experience in creating exceptional event experiences.
  • You’re naturally persuasive and resilient.
  • You have strong organisational skills, are able to prioritise tasks, and problem-solve effectively.
  • You demonstrate outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • You have a collaborative, proactive attitude, keen to get involved, inspire, and support team members.
  • You have strong time management skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • You are an expert Salesforce user and understand the importance of report generation and keeping our CRM updated.
  • You are a proficient Microsoft Office user (Word, PPT, Excel etc).
