Our team is growing, and we are now looking for a highly experienced and passionate professional to join our CRO division as Business Development Director. In this leadership role you will oversee a dedicated team, drive strategic growth initiatives, and secure new clinical research opportunities through a consultative and solutions-focused sales approach.

We are looking for a seasoned expert with a deep knowledge of clinical trial operations and experience in navigating complex client organisations.  Key to achieving success in this position, will be your ability to develop and maintain outstanding relationships with clients and potential clients along with key stakeholders across our business. You will actively identify and quality new business opportunities, managing a pipeline of leads from initial contact through to contract execution.

Frequent domestic and international travel will be required; remote work flexibility may be available dependant your base location.

More Specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • Business Growth & Client Acquisition
  • Actively identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities in alignment with corporate growth strategy.
  • Cultivate and manage a robust pipeline of qualified leads, from initial contact through to contract execution.
  • Expand business within existing accounts by identifying unmet client needs and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Client Relationship Management
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with decision-makers, including C-level executives, clinical operations leaders, and procurement teams.
  • Maintain high visibility and regular contact with clients to monitor satisfaction and anticipate future needs.
  • Serve as the strategic point of contact for key accounts, resolving issues and ensuring excellent service delivery in collaboration with operational teams.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution
  • Develop and implement comprehensive account plans
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to inform business development strategies.
  • Provide strategic input into service and capability development based on market intelligence and customer feedback.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in business development or sales within a CRO.
  • Demonstrated success in securing small to mid-scale clinical trial contracts and achieving sales targets.
  • In-depth knowledge of the drug development lifecycle, regulatory frameworks, and clinical trial operations.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and negotiate complex contracts and budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and manage complex, matrixed relationships.
  • Strategic thinking and commercial awareness.
  • Executive presence and strong communication skills.
