The Role
PlayOn is seeking a Business Data Analyst to provide optimized reporting and workflows, sustained data integrity, and routine analytical support to several departments, including the Finance, People, and Legal teams, through the growth-stage of PlayOn.  Reporting to the Data Engineering team, you will collaborate across several teams and data functions to ensure that we are making data-driven decisions for the organization.  You understand that sensitive people, financial, and legal data must be treated with the highest level of care and thoughtfulness, and always seek to steward the organization’s data in a way that prioritizes both usability but most importantly, confidentiality.  

The Outcomes You’ll Deliver:

Improved Employee Engagement & Productivity:
-Analyze employee survey and productivity data.
-Identify trends linking engagement and performance.
-Recommend initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity.

Enhanced Budget Management:
-Deliver data-driven budget variance analyses.
-Identify cost-saving opportunities and spending inefficiencies.
-Improve budget forecasting accuracy.

ROI on People Investments:
-Quantify the financial impact of training, benefits, or employee initiatives.
-Justify HR programs through clear financial outcomes.

IN THIS ROLE YOU CAN EXPECT TO...

  • Act with Discretion and Integrity: Manage sensitive people, legal, and financial data with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism, ensuring trust and compliance with data privacy standards. 

  • Perform Data Analysis:Clean, transform, and manipulate large datasets to extract meaningful insights from qualitative and quantitative data leveragingExcel and Snowflake.  Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations that are impactful for decisionmakers in G&A functions.  

  • Collaborate and Present: Act as the finance, accounting, and people data expert to partner with each team to form and maintain best in class data usage.  Take ownership of and accountability for data initiatives and the streamlining of data use processes. Present data-driven insights to a variety of stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.  

  • Embody Resilience and Adaptability: Navigate ambiguity while maintaining data integrity. Work through and understand nuances in underlying data sets.  Assume a strong sense of ownership and accountability with a willingness to roll-up sleeves. 

TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE, THESE ARE THE TALENTS YOU BRING ...

  • Strong ethical compass of handling sensitive data professionally.  
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in data analysis, preferably within business functions of a growth-stage organization.  
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel and SQL. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across differentteams. 
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy. 
  • Knowledge of and passion for data governance and compliance.   
  • Preferred experience working within HRIS systems or financial software.
