  • Plan and facilitate interviews, workshops, process walk-throughs, discovery sessions, and working meetings with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Distinguish true business needs from proposed solutions, preferences, or symptoms, and help stakeholders prioritize requirements based on business value, risk, urgency, and feasibility.
  •  Identify affected stakeholders, business processes, systems, data, controls, integrations, and upstream or downstream dependencies.

Business and Functional Requirements

  • Elicit, analyze, document, validate, prioritize, baseline, and manage business requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create clear and complete Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) that define the business problem, objectives, scope, stakeholders, current state, future-state needs, assumptions, constraints, risks, business rules, and success criteria.
  • Translate approved business requirements into detailed functional requirements and collaborate with solution architects, developers, vendors, and technical analysts to produce or validate Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs).
  • Develop supporting artifacts such as user stories, use cases, process maps, data definitions, interface requirements, report specifications, acceptance criteria, decision logs, and requirements matrices.
  • Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability from the BRD through the FRD, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and final business acceptance.
  • Manage requirement changes through the agreed change-control process and clearly communicate impacts to scope, schedule, cost, risk, testing, and business readiness.

Process Analysis and Solution Validation

  • Assess solution options and trade-offs using business value, user impact, risk, maintainability, compliance, and total cost considerations.

Testing, Readiness, and Implementation Support

  • Define business test scenarios and acceptance criteria directly from approved requirements and process flows.
  • Write or review User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test cases and confirm that each requirement is covered by appropriate testing.
  • Prepare business users for UAT by clarifying expected outcomes, test data needs, roles, and issue-reporting procedures.
  • Support defect triage by clarifying the intended business outcome, requirement source, priority, and impact.
  •  Validate that the delivered solution meets the approved business and functional requirements before business acceptance.
  •  Support implementation readiness, cutover planning, deployment, stabilization, and post-implementation reviews as needed.

IT Project Delivery Quality and Standards

  • Support continuous improvement efforts for practical standards, templates, checklists, and governance for business analysis and requirements management across all IT projects.
  • Review project requirements, functional specifications, process documentation, test artifacts, and related deliverables for completeness, clarity, consistency, traceability, and business alignment.
  • Identify requirement gaps, conflicting assumptions, unclear ownership, missing acceptance criteria, and other delivery risks early enough for the project team to correct them.
  • Capture lessons learned and convert them into reusable practices that improve the quality, predictability, and efficiency of future IT project delivery.
  • Provide clear status updates, risk and issue summaries, decision materials, and recommendations to project managers and leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience as an IT Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Functional Analyst, or similar role supporting technology-enabled business change.
  • Demonstrated experience creating BRDs, functional requirements, process maps, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability matrices.
  • Proven ability to facilitate requirements workshops, analyze complex business processes, resolve ambiguity, and translate business needs into clear specifications for technical teams.
  • Experience supporting solution design reviews, UAT planning and execution, defect triage, implementation readiness, and business acceptance.
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail and documentation quality.
  • Ability to work independently, build trusted relationships, and constructively challenge stakeholders and project teams when requirements or proposed solutions are unclear.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in manufacturing, distribution, automotive aftermarket, consumer products, or another complex multi-site operational environment.
  • Experience supporting a broad range of IT projects, such as application implementations, system enhancements, integrations, reporting and analytics, data initiatives, infrastructure changes, workflow automation, and cybersecurity or compliance initiatives.
  • Knowledge of business analysis frameworks and practices, including BABOK concepts, Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methods.
  • Experience with process-mapping, requirements-management, collaboration, test-management, reporting, or work-management tools.
  • Working knowledge of data concepts, system integrations, APIs, reporting, master data, internal controls, SOX, security, and audit requirements.
  • Business analysis certification such as ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent is a plus.

Core Competencies

  • Business acumen and stakeholder partnership
  • Requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation
  • Business-to-technical translation
  • Process analysis and continuous improvement
  • Facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Quality focus, attention to detail, and accountability
  • Clear communication and executive-ready documentation
  • Adaptability, curiosity, and sound judgment

Measures of Success

  • Business requirements are complete, approved, and understood before solution design and development begin.
  • Functional requirements accurately reflect approved business needs and are usable by the IT delivery team.
  • Requirements remain traceable through design, testing, deployment, and business acceptance.
  • Rework, missed requirements, avoidable defects, and late-stage scope surprises are reduced.
  • Business stakeholders have confidence that delivered solutions meet their needs and produce the intended outcomes.
  • IT project deliverables become more consistent, complete, and decision-ready over time.
