SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supporting the BSA Officer with meeting the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act Program obligations, which includes AML alert management and case creation responsibilities to support Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing efforts and OFAC compliance. This individual will work with business units and branch locations to obtain required information needed to complete daily BSA/AML compliance tasks.

Includes:                 
Use an automated monitoring system (AMS), along with manual reports and employee referrals, to monitor, identify, and escalate suspicious activity and fraud. Prepare regulatory reports, such as currency transaction reports. 

These duties will be performed in accordance with established policies and procedures. 
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. 1.    Maintain strict confidentiality of all alerts, cases, investigations, customer information, and BSA/AML-related data, both internally and externally.
    2.    Use automated monitoring systems, core systems, manual reports, and internal referrals to monitor, identify, investi-gate, document, and escalate suspicious activity, fraud, and transactions that exceed expected customer behavior profiles.
    3.    Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and potential indicators of money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes.
    4.    Perform, document, and maintain Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and En-hanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews for new and existing customers, including higher-risk customers, as assigned.
    5.    Review, track, document, and report exceptions to policies and procedures, including but not limited to CIP excep-tions, document exceptions, ChexSystems exceptions, and CDD questionnaire exceptions, using designated excep-tion tracking systems.
    6.    Monitor, research, and resolve potential customer matches to government watch lists, including the OFAC SDN List, and resolve potential cash and monetary instrument transactions identified through automated monitoring systems.
    7.    Review, prepare, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of regulatory reports, including Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), prior to submission by the BSA Officer.
    8.    Prepare reports, correspondence, and supporting documentation for internal management, regulatory reporting, au-dits, and BSA/AML examinations, and assist in gathering requested information.
    9.    Maintain awareness and understanding of Right to Financial Privacy requirements and applicable BSA/AML, OFAC, and related laws and regulations.
    10.    Participate in and complete all required compliance training, including annual regulatory required BSA training, in a timely manner to maintain proficiency with regulatory requirements. Obtain BSA related certifications as deemed ap-propriate by the BSA Officer.  
    11.    Follows policies and procedures, completes tasks correctly and on time, and supports the bank’s goals and values.
    12.    Prepare and maintain written procedures for daily tasks.
    13.    Performs the position safely without endangering the health or safety to themselves or others and will be expected to report potentially unsafe conditions.  The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.
    14.    Perform additional duties as assigned by the BSA Officer.

SECONDARY DUTIES

The position of BSA Monitoring Specialist performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of BSA Monitoring Specialist does not assume supervisory responsibilities. 

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The employee is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.  The position includes driving a personal owned vehicle approximately 5% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts.  It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.  

Occasional travel may be required to other markets as needed. Occasional overnight and/or out of state travel may be expected for training.

The employee in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

The employee for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, copy and fax machines, calculator, scanning equipment, computers, printers, and email.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

•    High School Diploma or equivalent.
•    Minimum of two years of banking experience.
•    Must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of bank personnel. 
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality of all case investigations. 

•    Ability to define problems and propose solutions.  

•    Strong attention to detail and strong organizational/time-management skills.  

•    Ability to effectively complete multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.  

•    Ability to work independently and/or in teams under limited supervision.  

•    Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships both internally and externally.  

•    Strong interpersonal skills evidenced in both verbal and written communications as well as excellent listening skills.  

•    Business writing skills and experience.  

•    Fundamental knowledge of general banking principles, philosophies, and operations.  

•    Ability to provide leadership, motivating and persuading others to address compliance risks without having actual authority over them.  

•    Current Arkansas driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
 

Skills Required
