Your Opportunity
Stantec’s thriving Great Lakes environmental services and brownfield revitalization team is looking for an experienced Brownfield Project Manager to join us. Our team is growing, and we have a need for a project manager with at least 10 years of relevant experience in the environmental field and a strong interest in environmental assessment/cleanup, community revitalization, and brownfield redevelopment. This team member will be primarily focused on due diligence and brownfield revitalization work for communities throughout the Midwest but may explore opportunities within our broader environmental services team including projects in complex assessment and remediation, resiliency, and compliance. Candidates must have a solid understanding of the environmental regulations in at least one State located in the Great Lakes region. Well-qualified candidates will have experience/familiarity with environmental regulations in multiple states and implementing/managing environmental due diligence, assessment, and remediation projects, especially as that relates to State and Federal grant funded projects. Strong writing and communication skills are critical, as is an understanding of effective project management concepts and approaches.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage environmental due diligence, assessment, cleanup, and brownfield redevelopment projects with attention to safety, quality, detail, budget, and deadlines
- Oversee staff completing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint sampling projects providing guidance on scope, schedule, and budget, and providing senior review of deliverables
- Prepare proposals and other marketing materials
- Assist with preparing grant applications to fund environmental projects
- Scoping and scheduling field investigations
- Writing and reviewing technical work plans, reports, and health and safety plans
- Field support including but not limited to:
- Work planning, scheduling, health and safety planning
- Preparing and following written work plans and Health and Safety Plans
- Environmental sampling including soil, groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air
- Overseeing field contractors (drillers, etc.) and field staff
- Managing sampling documents and coordinating with laboratories
- Overseeing environmental cleanup activities
Your Capabilities
- Experience administering and managing State and Federal funded projects
- Self-starting, team-oriented problem solver
- Strong research, analysis, and writing skills
- Majority of time spent in office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or combination of office and field.
- Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
Education and Experience
- 10+ years of experience in environmental due diligence, assessment, remediation, and project management in at least one Great Lakes (upper Midwest) state
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in geology, environmental science, engineering or related field.
- Experience managing federal or state funded brownfield/redevelopment projects in at least one Great Lakes (upper Midwest) state and professional licensure (i.e. PG and/or PE) strongly desired.
