INTRODUCTION:

New Path Youth and Family Services is an accredited children’s mental health agency providing a range of compassionate, innovative and accessible services for children, youth and their families throughout Simcoe County. New Path respectfully acknowledges we are situated on the traditional land of the Anishinaabeg People which includes the Odawa, Ojibwe, and Pottawatomi Nations collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. 


PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Quick Access Clinic is often the first point of contact for many New Path clients. Clinicians support clients in developing a plan to address a wide range of concerns. Services are delivered using the evidence-based practice of One-at-a-Time (single-session counselling). If a client requires support beyond the Quick Access Clinic, the clinician collaborates with the client to determine and facilitate the most appropriate referral.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Assess the needs of children, youth and families, formulating treatment plans including goals and service strategies. 
  2. Meet with clients and/or their families to provide support & counselling, using evidence based/informed programs. 
  3. Assist client(s) in making referrals to community resources as needed. 
  4. Provide consultation to New Path Staff, other agency personnel or the community. 
  5. Function as a supportive member of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W)
  2. Minimum two years' experience working with children, youth and their families in a children's mental health or related service
  3. Experience/training in Single Session Counselling
  4. Experience working with evidence based/informed programs

  8. Continuously assesses and challenges assumptions, personal unconscious bias and commits to understanding diverse perspectives, experiences and their intersectionality. 
  9. Commits to ongoing training to build the knowledge, awareness and skills, that contribute to creating a culturally safe environment for staff, clients and families. 
  10. Competency and effective use of database and Microsoft Office systems. 
  11. Confident, articulate and professional when communicating verbally and in writing. 
  12. French language is an asset. 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Working hours are 11:00AM to 7:00PM Monday -Thursday, Some flexibility to attend training and all staff events on Fridays. 
  2. This position is performed in office/on-site to support the in-person meeting preferences of our clients and families.  
  3. Willingness to travel to other agency offices and community using personal vehicle. Must have valid driver's license with minimum G2. 
  4. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
