Job Description
The Daily Beast is seeking a talented, motivated, and dependable Breaking News Intern to join our award-winning newsroom on-site in New York as part of the Cheat Sheet/breaking news team. Open to undergraduate juniors and seniors, graduate students, and post-grads, the internship is an exciting opportunity for emerging journalists to learn how a newsroom works while gaining hands-on experience. The roles are full-time (37.5 hours/week) for three-month periods between September through November. It will include evening and weekend shifts.
Ideal candidates are newshounds who can work quickly, write cleanly and with some flair, and both take initiative and direction.
Qualifications
* Experience writing breaking news.
* A voracious news diet and appetite that covers politics, pop culture, power, and big issues in the national and global conversations.
* Prior knowledge of web publishing and using a content management system is a plus.
* Comfort meeting quick deadlines.
