We’re hiring a full-time Branded Content Writer to join our Creative Studio team. 

About our team and what we’ll build together

Our Creative Studio team is home to writers, editors, designers, and producers who communicate our partners’ messaging throughout our ecosystem as well as on their owned and operated channels. Our partners are upstarts, Fortune 500 companies, and anything in between.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, creative Writer who’s ready to jump right in, think outside the box, and produce un-ignorable work for our partners. They’ll work closely with our Brand Strategy and Account Management teams to develop concepts for pitches and with our Client Services team to execute best-in-class campaigns across a variety of platforms — including newsletter, social, web, audio, text messaging, and events. 

This role covers all categories and all of our campaigns are designed to add value to the lives of our audience. Every day provides the chance to learn something new (seriously!) and make uniquely engaging content that helps theSkimm meet (or exceed!) revenue goals. 

How you’ll contribute to our mission

  • Leverage assets from theSkimm’s brand partners to craft copy for newsletter, web, audio, social, video, SMS, and experiential experiences that our target audience will look forward to consuming
  • Iterate thoughtfully based on feedback from internal stakeholders and clients
  • Partner with the Client Services, Account Management, Brand Strategy, Sales, and cross-functional teams to pitch and create effective content based on client KPIs and expectations — while maintaining theSkimm's brand and editorial standards
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations, platform best practices, and what theSkimm’s competitors (and other cool brands!) are making
  • Prepare for and bring fresh ideas to brainstorms

You’re ready for this! Here’s a bit more about what we’re looking for

  • 3–5 years of experience working in digital media, marketing, or advertising 
  • Experience writing articles of varying length and creating for social media
  • Excellent (copy)writing skills 
  • Ability to adapt to an editorial voice 
  • A strong pulse on web, social, video, and audio trends 
  • Knowledge of theSkimm and appreciation of its mission
  • A self-starter and a team player
  • Attention to detail

  • A portfolio that includes audio and video scripting
  • Experience creating content for a variety of client categories including finance, food & bev, entertainment, tech, retail, health & wellness, auto, and beauty
  • A track record of coming up with solutions when faced with challenges

This role's expected annual base salary is $70,000-$78,000. We’ll consider various factors when determining the offered base salary, including evaluating a candidate’s skills, abilities, experience, location, market demands, and internal parity.

About the office

This is a full-time role based in New York, NY with flexibility for remote work. 

Our office is available to use three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We have a hybrid environment and ask that employees within the New York Metro area come together in person a minimum of three days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employees during the three days a week that the office will be open.
