JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Box Office Manager and/or Box Office Supervisor, the Box Office Assistant provides the best possible support to the organization’s Classics, Pops, small series, special presentations, and other ticket sales goals through implementation of customer service and ticketing functions. This is a part-time, hourly position and some schedule flexibility in helpful during the concert season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer incoming phone calls (purchases, exchanges, general information)
- Attend to patron in-person transactions
- Respond to voicemail as needed
- Printing, packaging and mailing out tickets
- Cash handling and reconciling of daily sales
- Maintain a knowledge of all MSO performances and events
- Assist other Box Office staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: This would enhance the position but would not be required for success in the position:
- Understanding of and interest in music, particularly classical
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent along with good customer service skills and computer literacy (Office suite, particular Word and Excel). Excellent verbal communication skills using appropriate grammar, good phone etiquette and a neat appearance are required. Prior work in an office or Box Office is desired, as is experience with Tessitura.
REASONING ABILITY: Able to collect data and information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
