Job Summary:

The Bookkeeper provides accounting, administrative, and data entry support for accounting staff. The Bookkeeper compiles and maintains records and assists in the data entry and processing of journal entries.

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Accounting entries

  • Enters information into ledger and assigns to appropriate account.
  • Accurately inputs data into accounting software.
  • Checks work to ensure amounts are accurate.
  • Prints reports and reviews for accuracy.
  • Reconciles accounts under direction of accounting staff.

Accounting Records and Documentation Management

  • Reviews documentation to ensure proper classification and approval of paperwork.
  • Sets up client files and maintains timely and accurate records for clients.
  • Assigns account coding to invoices and ensures amount and client is accurate.
  • Seeks assistance from accounting staff when a question arises.

Accounting Staff Support

  • Assists the accounting staff when necessary, including filing and scanning of accounts payable, responding to client billing inquiries, and contacting vendors as necessary.
  • Provides other administrative support as needed.

Administrative Tasks

  • Works independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Follows all policies and procedures established by firm.
  • Enters time daily to ensure current and accurate tracking of hours.
  • Assigns hours to each client to ensure accurate billing.
  • Follows safety rules according to firm Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).

Marginal Functions

  • Accepts special projects as assigned

Job Requirements: To perform this job successfully, the individual must possess the following education, licenses and certifications, experience, and skills.

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent; some college with accounting studies

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to travel to client locations.

Experience

  • 4+ years of related experience required

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of accounting theory and accounting practices.
  • Familiarity with accounting rules.
  • Solid organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Solid PC skills, including Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Solid skills to use various accounting systems.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information.

Interpersonal Skills

  • High level of enthusiasm to work collaboratively in a team environment to meet and exceed expectations for internal and external clients.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, able to work with minimal direction in a high pressure environment.
  • Works with minimum direction to complete tasks and assignments and is flexible to accept tasks and projects.
  • Upholds the professional standards of conduct for respectful behavior and demonstrates a high degree of personal integrity.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.

The compensation for this position ranges from $55,000 - $70,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the individual's qualifications, experience, skills, licensure, and certifications.
