About the Role:

The Bone Density Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic DEXA scans to evaluate bone mineral density and support patient care. This role includes reviewing and maintaining all necessary procedural documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements. 


What You'll Do:

  • Demonstrate interest in meeting patient needs and assuring patient satisfaction.
  • Operating knowledge of radiographic equipment.
  • Performs all bone density procedures 
  • May be asked to assist in X-ray and Mammography as needed
  • Reviews all necessary documentation to perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Performs preventative visual and manual inspections for room and equipment assigned ensuring appropriate maintenance and cleanliness. 
  • Performs related clinical and clerical duties associated with the patient procedure. 
  • Assists in the managing of procedures through the coordination of resources, to facilitate optimal efficiency. Assures that the procedures performed are in accordance with policies and procedures. 
  • Performs warm up calibration procedures necessary to ready the equipment for patient imaging.
  • Assists in the procurement of necessary supplies.
  • Informs the manager of any equipment needing repair to ensure prompt service.
  • Contributes to a positive climate and open communication for a team approach.
  • Maintains certification and licensure as well as continuing education.

Educational Requirements:

  • College degree preferred
  • ARRT (RT)(R) and CT State License required 
  • ARRT (RT)(R)(M)(BD) preferred
  • BLS Certification

 

Physical demands/Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a radiology imaging outpatient department. Work may require sitting or standing for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for supplies. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to palpate, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate a keyboard and other office equipment is required. Operating knowledge of radiographic equipment is mandatory. Contact with patients, interaction with physicians, and office staff is constant.
