Industrial Engineering interns support Boeing’s production system by analyzing and improving production flow, staffing, capacity, schedules, ergonomics, factory layouts, and operational processes. They develop process improvements, use mathematical and simulation models, evaluate performance data, and reduce non-value-added work to improve safety, quality, cost, delivery, and efficiency. This is a full-time, first-shift, onsite summer internship in Wichita, Kansas, with relocation support based on eligibility.

Position Responsibilities:
Industrial Engineering. Industrial Engineering interns support the Boeing Production System by analyzing and improving how people, equipment, materials, facilities, and processes work together. Interns may evaluate production flow, staffing, capacity, schedules, ergonomics, standard work, and performance data to improve safety, quality, cost, delivery, and operational efficiency.
Potential internship assignments may include:
  • Develop and evaluate process improvements and production-system changes
  • Use mathematical, process, capacity, and simulation models to improve operations
  • Analyze staffing, flow, schedules, constraints, and performance metrics
  • Support ergonomics, factory layout, recovery planning, and reduction of non-value-added work

These positions are expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Wichita, KS.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate or graduate ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Ability to work full-time during Summer 2027

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Passion for the aerospace industry and interest and enthusiasm for a career at Boeing
  • Academic excellence (GPA of 3.0 or higher)
  • Previous related internship or work experience and/or involvement with student or civic organizations
  • Majoring in one of the following: Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management, or other closely related engineering fields
  • The ability to relocate and work onsite
