Our wireless access point software team builds a wide range of Wi-Fi access points including the latest Wi-Fi 7 APs (Access Points). Our software team covers platform bring up for everything from boot loaders to web servers on prototype hardware, kernel, driver integration, Wi-Fi features, wireless security, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) radio, and other sophisticated functions integrated into our product.  

In this team, you will get exposed to software for most advanced technologies for wireless infrastructure devices. Same team will also automate and qualify these platforms. Your contributions as part of this team will have direct impact into connectivity experience for critically important applications across the world. 

What You'll Do 

You’re deeply motivated and skilled Software developer and expected to deliver high quality software. You're super thrilled to be the one responsible for delivering the most advanced IOT platform. You have ‘I will figure it out’ attitude.   

You will build very high quality, modular software adhering to the approved design, develop the automated unit test cases to test the written software and perform end to end integration testing. 

You will design, develop, test and support the IOT system involving the technologies such as BLE, Zigbee, and Thread. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Actively participate on a project and work closely with other engineers in the development of software for our next generation IOT solutions 
  • Design and deliver new software and features for our next generation IOT System 
  • Day to day activities include writing new software, modifying software to fix issues, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces 
  • You will also work closely with system test and validation engineers to help with system test and integration 

Required skills: 

  • 5+ years of experience with BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent. 
  • You are an excellent C/C++/Python programmer and have strong analytical and logical solving skills 
  • Experience in IOT Technologies such as BLE, Zigbee, and Thread  
  • Experience working on TCP/IP network layer protocols 
  • Self-motivated, strong sense of ownership, team player, ability to work in fast-paced environment 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

Bonus Points: 

  • Experience with packet forwarding and DataPath 
  • Software development experience with Wi-Fi, GPS, UWB 
  • Python scripting for automation 
  • Experience testing wireless devices 
  • Knowledge of management stack or hands on experience in any wireless controller or cloud-based management solution  
  • Experience with customer interaction for technical problem-solving 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Good team building skills as this role requires the ability to work across departments and with other teams

U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%.  Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
