- Role Summary
- We are seeking a seasoned Power BI Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade Business Intelligence solutions.
- This role requires deep expertise in Power BI architecture, data modeling, performance engineering, governance, and secure deployment within large-scale data warehouse ecosystems.
- The ideal candidate will combine strong technical depth with architectural thinking, stakeholder engagement capability, and experience operating within regulated enterprise environments.
- Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Design Define and implement scalable Power BI architecture across Development, UAT, and Production environments.
- Design robust semantic models aligned with enterprise data warehouse standards.
- Establish best practices for data modeling, naming conventions, workspace governance, and deployment pipelines.
- Provide high-level design and effort estimation for BI initiatives.
- Data Modeling & Engineering Develop advanced DAX measures and optimized calculated columns.
- Build complex transformations using Power Query (M language).
- Design and implement Power BI Dataflows for centralized transformation logic.
- Optimize query performance through aggregation strategies, incremental refresh, and query folding.
- Integration & Deployment Manage report migration across environments using deployment pipelines.
- Configure and maintain On-Premises Data Gateways.
- Implement and manage Power BI Embedded solutions where applicable.
- Integrate BI systems with enterprise data sources including OLAP cubes, SQL Server, and cloud data platforms.
- Security & Governance Architect and implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and role-based access controls.
- Define enterprise-wide security frameworks aligned with Azure AD. Ensure compliance with data governance, audit, and regulatory standards. Performance & Optimization Conduct performance diagnostics for dashboards and datasets. Optimize SQL queries and backend data models for large-volume datasets.
- Implement scalable solutions for high concurrency and enterprise adoption.
- Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into scalable BI solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to BI developers. Identify automation opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and operational performance.
- Required Technical Expertise Power BI (Core Requirement) Power BI Service (Workspaces, Deployment Pipelines, Admin capabilities)
- Advanced DAX and data modeling principles Power Query (M language) Dataflows (Service-based transformations) Performance tuning and dataset optimization RLS and enterprise security implementation Gateway configuration and management
- Power BI Embedded architecture (preferred) Data & Database Expertise
- Strong SQL with complex joins, indexing, and performance tuning
- Experience with SSRS and SSIS In-depth knowledge of OLAP concepts
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks Data warehousing design (Star/Snowflake schemas) Azure (Preferred) Azure Data Factory Azure Synapse Analytics Azure SQL Database Azure Data Lake Storage Azure Active Directory integration
- Other BI Tools (Good to Have) QlikView / Qlik Sense Tableau GCP Looker
- Familiarity with GCP analytics ecosystem Preferred Background Experience within Financial Services, Banking, or Asset Management environments. Exposure to regulatory reporting and secured data environments.
- Experience leading BI teams or architecting enterprise BI programs. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
