Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking an experienced and strategic Benefits Manager to lead the administration and continuous improvement of our employee benefits programs. In this role, you will be responsible for managing employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance, and providing exceptional support to our team members regarding their benefits options. You will play a key role in enhancing employee satisfaction and well-being through effective communication and administration of benefits offerings.
- Administer Benefit Plans End-to-End
- Oversee all employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life, STD/LTD, FSA/HSA, and retirement), including enrollments, terminations, QLE changes, COBRA, and leave-related continuations.
- Plan and execute new hire and open enrollment, including system configuration, employee communications, and vendor coordination.
- Maintain benefits data integrity in the HRIS, collaborate with Payroll on deductions and reconciliations, and process monthly carrier invoices.Gather, audit, and process monthly carrier invoices and prepare vouchers for administrative fees.
- Support Employees and Deliver Key Communications
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions, providing accurate and timely guidance.
- Travel to locations as needed to provide in-person support.
- Develop clear, accessible communication materials to help employees understand and maximize their benefits.
- Liase with Broker and Manage Vendors
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
- Evaluate vendor performance, review service levels, and escalate and resolve claims or administrative issues.
- Participate in RFP processes and support the analysis and recommendation of plan design changes.
- Review plan utilization data, cost projections, and benchmarking to support plan design recommendations.
- Maintain Compliance and Monitor Regulatory Changes
- Ensure benefits programs comply with applicable federal and state regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, Section 125, and DOL requirements.
- Manage required filings, notices, and deadlines, including 5500 filings, SBCs, and Medicare Part D notices.
- Maintain administrative procedures and documentation for all benefits processes.

Qualifications- 3–5 years of progressive experience in benefits administration or a related HR role, with demonstrated readiness to own the benefits function independently.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of employee benefits plan types, design, and administration.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, Section 125, and DOL requirements.
- Experience managing vendor and carrier relationships.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to work with benefits databases and reporting tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information clearly to a broad employee population.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
