Position Summary
The Behavior Consultant utilizes discretion and independent judgment in carrying out job duties and goals of the organization.
The Behavior Consultant develops, delivers, and monitors individualized applied behavior analytic programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. The goal of our program is to improve the quality of life for each individual and their family members. Behavior Consultants are responsible for the performance of registered behavior technicians (RBTs) and the
facilitation of skill generalization by training parents and other caretakers.
Qualifications
Required
- Any of the following are required:
- Master's Degree with BCBA "in progress"
- BCaBA
Physical Requirements
- Ability to run, sit, stand, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, push, and lift a child weighing 50 pounds
- Normal visual, vocal, and hearing acuity
- Ability to use a computer and other technologies (tablet, etc.)
- Ability to travel via automobile

What You'll Do
Supervision & Staff Management
- Supervises RBTs by carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including assessing needs, providing feedback, support, performance appraisals, rewards, discipline, and resolving issues.
- Troubleshoots staff weaknesses and provides one-on-one teaching to improve knowledge and skills.
- Oversees therapy teams to ensure client success, reviews data, provides recommendations, and monitors progress.
- Level 3 BCBAs provide mentoring to Level 2 BCBAs as assigned.
- Conducts competencies, evaluations, and level reviews for subordinates.
- Conducts monthly consultant/lead paraprofessional meetings.
Client Treatment & Clinical Oversight
- Provides clients with on-site supervision.
- Assesses client needs and develops individualized behavior programs.
- Develops, implements, and monitors behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Provides ongoing behavior consultation to address behavior excesses and promote independence.
- Continuously monitors client progress and adjusts treatment plans.
- Monitors and modifies treatment plans as needed.
- Attends and observes clients’ in-home programs, including curriculum and data collection review.
Assessment, Data Review & Program Development
- Assesses client needs and designs individualized behavior programs.
- Reviews client data and provides recommendations.
- Monitors data collection and program implementation.
- Continuously evaluates effectiveness of treatment plans and adjusts accordingly.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicates and collaborates with parents and staff to ensure consistent implementation of services.
- Serves on IEP and PTM teams, providing objectives, BIPs, and recommendations for home-based goals.
- Interfaces with adjunct service providers, schools, insurance companies, and other agencies.
- Discusses concerns and observations with care providers (e.g., parents).
Training, Workshops & Professional Development
- Conducts workshops for families, schools, parents, and teachers in ABA.
- Provides mentoring and support to junior-level BCBAs.
- Attends conferences and meetings.
- Attends monthly consult meetings with supervisors to review caseloads and needs.
Documentation, Reporting & Administrative Duties
- Writes and approves reports including assessment, update, exit, and termination reports within required timelines and formats.
- Maintains CentralReach calendar.
- Maintains accurate billing records.
- Updates HR with valid personal records.
Meetings & Internal Coordination
- Attends and participates in conferences and meetings.
- Conducts monthly behavior consultant meetings.
- Attends monthly consult meetings with supervisors.
- Conducts monthly consultant/lead paraprofessional meetings.
Operational & Miscellaneous Duties
- Oversees client service hours and ensures required hours are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- On-call responsibility (8am–7pm for Kala No Limits).

- $32 - $34.50/hour

Skills Required
- Provide supervision and direction to two or more RBTs
- BCBA (for BCBA position)
- BCaBA (accepted for non-BCBA positions)
- Master's degree (minimum) with BCBA in progress (desirable)
- Bachelor's degree plus semester units in applied behavior analysis plus 1 year direct care experience (alternative qualification)
- Bachelor's degree plus 2 years direct care experience (alternative qualification)
- Prior supervisory experience (preferred, not required)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Criminal background check and reference checks
- Negative TB test and immunization records
- Education verification
- Current driver's license and proof of valid auto insurance
- Reliable means of transportation and ability to travel via automobile
- Availability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and be on-call 8am to 7pm
- Access to a computer and knowledge of internet, e-mail and Microsoft Office applications
