About Marketing for Change

We are a research and creative agency that leverages the power of social psychology, neuroscience and behavioral economics to understand, influence and evaluate why beliefs, attitudes and behaviors change to advance social causes. Founded in 2005, Marketing for Change helps foundations, nonprofits, governments and companies “do good better.” Our 30-plus staff includes copywriters, filmmakers, designers, researchers, developers and strategists — not to mention musicians, artists, podcasters, kayakers, and mountaineers. Because that part of life is just as important as work. Our main office is just outside Washington, DC, and we have hubs in Orlando and Denver; we seek to hire people willing to locate in those areas. We are mostly a hybrid workforce with staff working together in-person at least a few days a week because we value the fun and collaboration that allows.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer research. At least four years of experience in consumer, communications or behavioral research OR at least two years experience plus a graduate degree in a relevant field (behavioral economics, sociology, behavioral science, public health, etc).
  • Experience with qualitative research methods: Proficiency conducting focus groups, in-depth interviews, ethnographic studies, or other qualitative research techniques.
  • Storytelling and presentation skills: Ability to translate complex research findings into compelling narratives and actionable insights for clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills: Strong verbal and stellar written communication skills for effectively communicating research findings and recommendations.
  • Understanding of sampling techniques: Knowledge of various sampling methods and their implications for data accuracy and reliability.
  • Strong numerical and data interpretation skills: Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate quantitative findings into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis: Expertise in using statistical methods and software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, or Python) to analyze survey data, identify trends, and draw data-driven conclusions.
  • An innate curiosity and passion for learning more about what drives people’s behavior in a wide variety of settings.

Requirements

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with survey design and administration: Ability to design, conduct, and analyze quantitative surveys to gather consumer data and insights. Curiosity, empathy and a passion for behavioral science.
  • Experience managing large research projects, including project budgets, timetables and subcontractors.
  • Experience seeking representative quantitative samples and/or participants for qualitative research, seeking bids from vendors and managing recruits.
  • Prior publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Some of the perks:

  • We care about each other. We check in. We advocate and cover for each other. We cheer each other on. And we like to hang out.
  • We offer a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, sick and holiday leave, 401(k) matching contributions, and paid parental leave. We offer a range of health plans including PPO and HSA healthcare, as well as dental, disability and life insurance.
  • We are a deliberately developmental workplace. That means we will help you develop and pursue professional goals that match your life goals and purpose.
  • We prioritize balance and flexibility. We are at our desks most days for 8 hours, not 10. We are open to schedule adjustments and flexible schedules.
  • We are a flat organization. Everyone’s ideas are valued. Anyone can spearhead a new company initiative or make change.
  • We care about social change. We show up each day as part of a fun and friendly work culture to do inspiring work that makes the world a better place.
