Ignite Education Solutions is hiring a Behavior Monitor to work in a behavior intervention classroom one-on-one with students at GJCTC in Johnstown.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

Classroom Assistance

  • Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate behavioral and instructional efforts
  • Help classroom teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
  • Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
  • Work with individual student(s) or small groups to develop needed skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
  • Tutor and assist student(s) individually or in small groups in order to help them master content and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
  • Keep teacher informed of special needs and/or problems of student(s)
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Help supervise student(s) throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips

Behavior Management

  • Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate behavioral and instructional efforts
  • Help manage behavior of student(s)
  • Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs
  • Provide updates on behaviors during formal and informal meetings
  • Track behavior and attendance using DOJO or another approved system
  • Manage progress towards goal completion for PBSP’s

What are the required qualifications?

  • High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
  • Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
  • Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
