JOB SUMMARY: The Beamer Operator position in the Metals Product Line is responsible for warping and verification of quality warps for use by the weaving department. This includes the documentation of operations and the setting of patterns to be produced. Management may assign additional duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Will verify and perform preparation tasks prior to beginning beaming operations by reading and performing written instructions. Will load and splice in ends of wire on the creel by reading and performing written instructions. Will install beams, repair tangles, and repair breaks by reading and performing written instructions. Will splice broken ends and make size change by reading and performing written instructions. Will power up, set up sectional beamer and enter warping order into input system by reading and performing written instructions. Will set creel tension and check creel set up using beamer ticket or work order instructions by reading and performing written instructions. Will monitor beaming operations for efficiency and effectiveness using established procedures. Will doff, transport, and store warps by reading and performing written instructions. Will assist in running looms as directed by management.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: May perform 5S tasks. May plan creel sections based on wire availability.
SPECIAL DEMANDS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Must perform all duties in a safe manner. Must perform other department tasks as assigned by supervisor. Must handle and move material without damage. Must be able to adjust to changing conditions. Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/32 of an inch. Must be able to work overtime as scheduled or required. This is a variable shift position and employee will be required to work all shifts, 3-11, 11-7, 7-3 and or crew shifts.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The department shift supervisor and or team leader will provide direct supervision for this position.
ACCEPTABLE EDUCATON: Prefer High School Diploma or GED. Currently assessed in reading and mathematics at an 8th grade equivalency or higher on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) exam through our Continuous Education and Development (CED) program or have an appropriate WorkKeys score based on the profile.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Prefer 6 month's previous work experience in a creel changer position. Prefer 12 month's experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Will have or can obtain certification to operate forklift and refuel material handling equipment and lockout/tagout.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: A Physical analysis is required for this position.
