About the role:

In this role, you will lead the strategic delivery of the firm’s Clients & Sectors approach for the Consumer & Sports sector. You will work in close partnership with Sector Leaders to shape a forward-looking, globally relevant sector strategy that drives revenue growth through targeted client development, sector insight, and cross-practice collaboration. Your role will be to ensure that our market approach reflects evolving trends and client expectations in the consumer and sports industries.

This is a role requiring a proactive, analytical, and collaborative approach to sector leadership. You will manage and coordinate go-to-market campaigns, white-space analysis, and client feedback cycles to ensure that strategic goals are met. Working with client teams, CRMs, and global BDM colleagues, you will ensure a seamless client experience and alignment of BD activity with broader firm priorities.

Your key responsibilities:

Lead and execute the Consumer & Sports sector strategy.

  • Design sector plans aligned with firm-wide and enterprise goals.
  • Review and update strategy based on client/market developments.
  • Coordinate strategic alignment across global and local offices.
  • Engage with sector leaders and partners to track performance.

Drive cross-practice initiatives and go-to-market campaigns.

  • Deliver BD initiatives that span practices and regions.
  • Ensure priority clients receive targeted sector-focused campaigns.
  • Collaborate with BDM and marketing to drive execution excellence.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and report outcomes regularly.

Use insights and data to shape strategic targeting.

  • Monitor sector trends, client behaviours, and regulatory shifts.
  • Work with analytics teams to identify high-potential clients.
  • Share insights with partners to inform business planning.
  • Track KPIs on sector growth and client engagement.

Manage client white-space analysis and action plans.

  • Identify and address relationship gaps.
  • Review and prioritise strategic white-space opportunities.
  • Embed account planning frameworks within sector teams.
  • Ensure visibility and accountability for plan execution.

Support sector-aligned pitches and client engagement.

  • Review pitch content for sector relevance and differentiation.
  • Coordinate responses and feedback collection with pitch teams.
  • Highlight key market issues and solutions in submissions.
  • Provide support on legal directory and award submissions.

Your experience:

  • Substantial management experience in BD roles within legal or professional services.
  • Deep understanding of Consumer & Sports market dynamics and client issues.
  • Proven success in designing and executing sector strategies.
  • Experience leading client development and cross-selling initiatives.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders and partners.
  • Track record in using data and feedback to shape BD plans.
  • Skilled in developing client plans and managing white-space actions.
  • Experience supporting major pitches and market submissions.
  • Team leadership and mentoring experience in a BD function.

This role is based at the Linklaters London office with a hybrid working model available.
