Rive is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join our team. Working with a lean backend team there's a lot of opportunity to continue to evolve our backend services and cloud infrastructure as we scale. We have some unique and complex problems to solve.
What you'll do
- Build and scale the backend services for Rive's cloud based editor, supporting the implementation of new features.
- Developing our new external API for third parties to build integrations with Rive.
- Maintain customer-facing web applications for authentication, account management and Rive's marketplace.
- Architect our AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure services are scalable, resilient and secure.
- Improve our telemetry and observability to give better insight into system health, performance, and customer usage.
- Ensure every feature is delivered with well-structured, tested, and maintainable code.
- Collaborate directly with our customers to deliver the features they need.
Some of the tech you’ll be working with
Languages & Frameworks: Node.js (TypeScript/JavaScript), Next.js, Dart/Flutter, C++, Bash.
Databases: Aurora MySQL.
Infrastructure: AWS (containers, serverless, storage, networking, CDN), Docker, Terraform.
Observability: CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Sentry.
CI/CD: GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline.
Other: Integrations with common third-party APIs, such as Stripe and Mailchimp.
What you will bring
- 3+ years building and operating backend services for SaaS products in the cloud, ideally on AWS,
- Strong SQL expertise, including schema design and query optimisation.
- Proven experience running Node.js applications in production in containerised environments.
- Strong customer focus, experience collaborating directly with internal and external stakeholders to deliver features.
- Ability to work independently while staying aligned with team goals and engineering standards.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, often quickly, and jump on to issues outside of your areas of expertise.
Location: London Hybrid, with ability to come into the office weekly.
Visa sponsorship is not available. The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence of their right to work in the U.K. prior to commencing employment.
Compensation and benefits:
We offer a hybrid work environment, comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage as well as stock options. Salary range: 75-100k GBP. Compensation may depend on the level of experience and geographic location.
