As the Robot Platform team, we're expanding the concept of mobility beyond vehicles, building human-centric robots that work alongside people in everyday life. By co-creating an integrated robotic platform with Woven City's Weavers and Inventors, we develop robots people resonate with that grow smarter with every use, freeing people from tedious tasks and expanding human potential. Our ambition is to make Woven City a robot product factory, combining SW/HW platforms, AI, city infrastructure, and mass production.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated backend software engineer to join us in building the Robot Platform's products and services. As we deploy and operate production systems in Woven City, we are also constantly exploring new ways to bring human-centric robots into everyday life. We need a talented engineer who can help us maintain a reliable production environment while evolving our platform toward future applications. We strive to maintain a safe working environment where everyone's opinion is valued and can contribute ideas to the products and development processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, maintain, and deploy high quality and reliable backend services for the Robot Platform
- Continuously improve test quality and coverage, as well as CI/CD pipelines and monitoring stack
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, frontend, and business teams to improve overall system design and contribute to the evolution of robotic products and services
- Monitor deployed services, diagnose issues, and coordinate with the Woven City on-site operations team
- As necessary, travel to Woven City to perform on-site troubleshooting and maintenance
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing backend software, including object-oriented design, debugging, testing and use of version control systems and CI/CD
- Proficiency and hands-on experience with Java using modern tooling (E.g. Gradle, Maven, Spring Boot)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural and diverse workplace environment
- Strong sense of ownership and initiative, ability to learn new technologies quickly in a dynamic environment
- Business-level written and spoken English
NICE TO HAVES
- Familiarity with data communication protocols like AMQP/MQTT and message brokers like RabbitMQ
- Experience developing/deploying containerized applications using Docker or Podman
- Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry and Grafana
- Understanding of DevOps development methodology, including building, testing, documentation, and monitoring
- Ability to write simple frontend code using modern Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript)
- Business-level written and spoken Japanese
