Backend Software Engineer - Process Management

Corporater is a global enterprise software company helping large organizations manage governance, performance, risk, compliance, and business processes through a connected business management platform.

As we continue to evolve our global product, Corporater India is building a strong Product Engineering organization focused on scalable, high-quality product development and customer outcomes.

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join the team building Process Manager, a strategic capability that enables customers to model, automate, and govern business processes.

You will work on the backend services powering long-running processes, workflows, approvals, tasks, and process automation. This is a hands-on product engineering role where you will contribute to solution design, architecture, technical decisions, and product discovery—not just implementation.

• Build and evolve backend capabilities for business process management and workflow automation.

• Work with Camunda 7 including process/task definitions, process instances, external tasks, incidents, and history.

• Investigate and resolve complex workflow issues, including stuck or failed processes.

• Build reliable asynchronous integrations using RabbitMQ, including retries, idempotency, at-least-once delivery, and dead-letter handling.

• Implement and maintain transactional Inbox/Outbox patterns.

• Develop REST APIs, business logic, persistence, and integrations using Java and Spring Boot.

• Apply Hexagonal Architecture / Ports & Adapters to maintain clean domain boundaries.

• Write automated unit and integration tests using JUnit 5, Testcontainers, and related practices.

• Participate in architecture and code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.

• Work closely with Product Managers, frontend engineers, QA, and architects to shape solutions.

• Participate in discovery, evaluate alternatives, and bring technical trade-offs and simpler options to the discussion.

• Take ownership of production reliability and customer impact.

• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot experience.

• Experience building and operating production backend services.

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, transactions, persistence, and databases.

• Experience with JPA/Hibernate and/or jOOQ.

• Practical experience with Camunda 7 or a comparable BPM/workflow engine.

• Production experience with RabbitMQ or a comparable messaging platform.

• Understanding of idempotency, retries, failure handling, and asynchronous processing.

• Practical experience with Hexagonal Architecture / Ports & Adapters.

• Strong testing discipline with JUnit 5 and integration testing.

• Camunda 8 / Zeebe experience.

• Testcontainers experience.

• OpenTelemetry or similar observability experience.

• Experience with distributed or event-driven systems.

• Experience building enterprise SaaS products.
