GGWP is a fast-paced start-up co-founded by three successful entrepreneurs with the backing of key strategic investors in the video game industry. GGWP aims to curb toxicity in gaming by creating positive, player centric experiences. We are working with popular online video games who are aligned with our mission.
As a backend engineer, you will primarily work with the team to design and build - APIs, services and data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with Engineering Leads, Machine Learning Engineers, Architects, and Product teams to identify, build, test, and deploy APIs, services, data collection, management, and curation tools. You would also be responsible for productionizing data manipulation and data management services. You will review requirements with Machine Learning Engineers, Product Managers and Analysts. You will work closely with other engineers to ensure efficient use of resources and to help ensure proper integration with our broader cloud infrastructure.
We are seeking talented backend engineers to join our team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building APIs
- Writing services
- Data collection and analysis
- Tool development to add to our data platform
- Software engineering and designing data pipelines
- R&D on various AWS products with a focus on optimising AWS resource utilisation
- Working together with engineers, data scientists and product teams
What we are looking for:
- 4+ years of industry experience writing APIs, services; collecting data and building data pipelines
- Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Good analytical skills with strong fundamentals of data structures and algorithms
- Understanding of code complexity in terms of time and space
- Experience with Python or Java or Scala or Javascript or relevant scripting language
- Experience with Cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS) and relevant microservices
- Proficiency with databases (e.g. Postgres) and key stores (eg. Redis)
- Experience working different types of datasets (e.g. unstructured, semi-structured, with missing information)
- Ability to think critically and creatively in a dynamic environment, while picking up new tools and domain knowledge along the way
- A positive attitude, and a growth mindset
Bonus:
- A passion for gaming =)
- Familiarity with different data stores (e.g. flat files, buckets, graph, columnar, NoSQL)
- Experience with serverless development and deployment
- Experience with relevant Python libraries such as Beautiful Soup, Requests, Scrapy, Selenium
