Backend Developer (m/f/d)

bwise Media is a global digital media agency focused on monetizing sports websites and apps. We pride ourselves on managing advertising sales for sports betting operators and collaborate with some of the world’s most popular sports portals.

Are you enthusiastic about backend development and interested in building scalable systems for digital products in the sports and iGaming industry? As a Backend Developer, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing backend services, APIs, databases, and infrastructure that power our websites, applications, and internal platforms.

• Design, develop and maintain backend services, APIs and applications.
• Build scalable, secure and high-performance backend systems for web applications and internal platforms.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services used by frontend applications and other systems.
• Work with databases to store, query, structure and optimize data efficiently.
• Implement third-party APIs and external services where needed.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and other team members to deliver reliable and user-friendly digital products.
• Debug, troubleshoot and resolve backend, database, API and infrastructure-related issues
• Suggest technical improvements to enhance system reliability, scalability, security and maintainability.
• Stay updated on the latest trends in backend development, infrastructure and modern web technologies.

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Backend Developer or in a related role.
• Strong knowledge of backend technologies such as Node.js, Next.js, Golang or similar.
• Hands-on experience designing, building and working with RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with databases such as MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL or NoSQL alternatives.
• Knowledge of cloud/server infrastructure such as AWS or Hetzner.
• Understanding of real-time data processing, caching strategies and background jobs/queues.
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable backend architectures.
• Good understanding of security, performance optimization and reliable data handling.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Very good command of English; any additional language is a plus.
• Ideally Naples based.
