Our lottery & betting development team of 30+ is on the lookout again—this time for a Backend Developer to join our new, greenfield, iLottery Engine Administrative Interface project.
If you’re into backend development, eager to learn Rust, and would love to work on large-scale backend systems for both Hungarian and international lottery companies, this might just be your lucky ticket.
- Developing backend APIs (aka. middleware) for the product, a brand new iLottery Engine Administrative platform, built from scratch.
- Working closely with our frontend developers and our backend architect as a team—you’ll be their padawan.
- Supporting the frontend team to integrate APIs and helping them understand backend magic.
- Communicating with partner engineers—sometimes via email, sometimes in meetings.
- Testing, documenting, and delivering new features.
- Debugging and problem-solving when things go sideways.
- Growing your skills while learning how to build scalable systems for clients around the world.
- Knows how modern programming languages work and is excited to learn new ones (Rust is our pick here).
- Has built web apps—at university, as a hobby, or in an internship.
- Might be fresh out of school, but has already coded something cool (internships and hobby projects count!).
- Understands how the internet works (TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS... ring a bell?).
- Can write a basic database query without breaking a sweat.
- Is a fast learner, motivated, and has an engineering mindset.
- Speaks Hungarian and English. Don’t worry, we only need your English to read technical docs and chat with non-Hungarian partners.
- You know any of these: Java, Rust, Go, C, C++, C#, Python, PHP.
- You’ve heard of design patterns and principles (SOLID, DRY, etc.).
- You’ve written tests for your code.
- Linux doesn’t scare you—and you don’t think terminal is an airport lounge.
- You’re familiar with REST APIs.
- You have a solid foundation in computer science or engineering.
