BA Automation Specialist
Experience: 5-8 years
Location: Mumbai
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Operations Automation Specialist to work closely with Operations teams to identify manual, repetitive, inefficient, and risk-prone processes and convert them into scalable automation solutions. The role will use technologies such as Alteryx, UiPath, Power BI, Excel/VBA, and other workflow automation platforms.
This position will support the Operations transformation agenda by improving process efficiency, reducing manual touchpoints, strengthening controls, lowering operational risk, and contributing to departmental automation and capacity-saving objectives. Alteryx will primarily be used to automate complex, manual, Excel-based processes, while UiPath will be used to automate repetitive, rules-based activities to improve efficiency and productivity.
The successful candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, a practical understanding of Operations processes, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They should be confident engaging directly with Operations subject-matter experts, identifying process pain points, translating business needs into automation solutions, and delivering production-ready outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Process Discovery and Opportunity Assessment
- Partner with Operations teams to understand process pain points, manual activities, recurring issues, control gaps, and operational inefficiencies.
- Assess processes for automation suitability, considering repeatability, data availability, transaction volumes, potential effort savings, risk reduction, and scalability.
- Translate operational challenges into clearly defined automation use cases, business requirements, and measurable benefit cases.
- Support automation idea intake, benefit tracking, prioritisation, and delivery-readiness activities.
Automation Development and Delivery
- Design, develop, test, and implement automation solutions using Alteryx and UiPath, with potential integration across Excel, Outlook, Power BI, SharePoint, and other Operations tools.
- Build Alteryx workflows to transform, reconcile, validate, and prepare operational data.
- Develop UiPath automations for repetitive, rules-based activities, including downloading files, navigating systems, extracting data, preparing reports, routing information, and reducing manual intervention.
- Ensure solutions are robust, controlled, scalable, easy for Operations users to run, and straightforward to maintain.
- Produce runbooks, user guides, control documentation, and handover materials for business-as-usual teams.

- Practical experience with UiPath or comparable robotic process automation tools used to automate repetitive, rules-based operational activities.

- Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources.
- Understanding of the automation delivery lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, user acceptance testing, production deployment, documentation, and ongoing support.
- Familiarity with automation idea intake, prioritization, or benefit-tracking processes would be beneficial.
Behavioral Skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Strong analytical capability and attention to detail.
- Curious, solution-focused, and comfortable challenging inefficient manual processes.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical Operations users.
