The Role
APS (Azure Power Squad) is one of the 4 Azure Platform Engineering team within the Public Cloud Platform. We build and operate the secure, compliant and highly automated cloud capabilities that enable more than 400 internal DevOps teams to consume Azure through self-service. Our mission is to accelerate software delivery by providing reusable platform products, automation, governance and cloud-native services at enterprise scale.
We are looking for a senior Azure Platform Engineer with strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure platform services, platform automation, networking, identity, policy and governance, security controls and modern platform engineering practices. This is a hands-on engineering role where architecture, automation, operational excellence and product thinking come together.
Your jobAs an Azure Platform Engineer in APS, you will help build and evolve platform capabilities used by hundreds of ABN AMRO engineering teams. You translate consumer needs, security requirements and compliance guardrails into scalable self-service solutions that are easy to adopt and operate.
You will contribute to the design, development, operation and continuous improvement of Azure platform products and services. The work is focused on managed Azure services, reusable automation, secure-by-default patterns, platform integrations and reducing friction for internal consumers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building self-service Azure capabilities for internal DevOps teams.
- Developing reusable platform products, automation, templates, APIs and integration patterns.
- Improving developer experience by making Azure services easier, safer and faster to consume.
- Embedding security, compliance, policy, identity, networking and governance controls into platform capabilities.
- Operating platform services with a focus on reliability, observability, supportability and continuous improvement.
- Engaging with consuming DevOps teams to understand adoption barriers, gather feedback and improve APS products.
- Collaborating with other Azure platform teams across FSCP to deliver consistent, enterprise-scale cloud capabilities.
- Contributing to modernization of platform engineering practices, including Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and automation.
The Public Cloud Grid is the owner of the Financial Services Cloud Platform (FSCP) and acts as an Internal Service Provider. FSCP is a strategic and highly automated Azure-based cloud platform within Platforms & Technology. It enables ABN AMRO teams to build and run solutions in a secure, compliant and scalable way.
You will become part of Azure Platform Services, a team responsible for platform products and managed Azure capabilities that are consumed by internal engineering teams. APS works closely with 10+ other Azure DevOps teams within the platform organization. Together, these teams deliver the building blocks, guardrails and automation needed to use Azure safely at enterprise scale.

Azure and platform engineering- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure platform services and cloud-native patterns.
- Experience with managed Azure services, platform automation and reusable service patterns.
- Understanding of Azure networking, private connectivity, identity, RBAC, Managed Identities and security controls.
- Experience with Azure Policy, governance, compliance and secure-by-default platform design.

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep and/or ARM.
