AIS supports a Federal contract aiming to connect shipyard industrial equipment IoT sensors to Azure IoT to enable real-time telemetry, predictive maintenance, asset monitoring, and advanced analytics.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement end-to-end Azure IoT solutions connecting industrial sensors and equipment to Azure.
Deploy and configure Azure IoT Hub, Azure IoT Edge, and Azure Digital Twins.
Design architectures for secure ingestion of telemetry and equipment data into Azure.
Implement device-to-cloud and edge-to-cloud communication pipelines.
Integrate industrial sensors, PLCs, and machine controllers with edge gateways.
Configure and deploy Azure IoT Edge runtime on industrial gateways.
Ingest telemetry into Azure services including Azure IoT Hub, Azure Event Hub, Azure Data Explorer, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Stream Analytics.
Implement device identity management and certificate-based authentication.
Configure CI/CD pipelines for IoT Edge modules.
Five (5) years of hands-on experience implementing Azure IoT solutions, including Azure IoT Hub and IoT Edge, to ingest and manage device telemetry.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Experience integrating industrial sensors, PLCs, or control systems with edge gateways or cloud platforms.
Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT, or AMQP.
Experience deploying and managing edge computing environments using containerized workloads (e.g., Docker) on industrial gateways.
Proficiency in software development or scripting for device integration or edge modules (e.g., Python, C#, or Node.js).
Understanding of industrial networking and secure device connectivity, including TLS, certificate-based authentication, and firewall/network configuration.
Experience designing telemetry ingestion and data pipelines into cloud data platforms for monitoring, analytics, or predictive maintenance.
Ability to work onsite in industrial or shipyard environments, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to instrument equipment and troubleshoot sensor integrations.
Experience with industrial IoT deployments in manufacturing, maritime, or energy sectors
Familiarity with predictive maintenance solutions
Experience with Azure Machine Learning for equipment analytics
Knowledge of SCADA systems and industrial monitoring platforms
Experience integrating with CMMS or asset management systems
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure IoT Developer Specialty; Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect; or Industrial IoT Certifications
