Job description:
Azure Cloud & Kubernetes Engineer — Mid to Senior Level
Role overview
We are looking for a hands-on engineer to maintain and improve our Azure-based cloud and Kubernetes environments and onboard new applications. This role requires strong Azure expertise, practical experience with Kubernetes and Docker, and the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar technical problems and adapt to challenging situations.
Requirements
- Manage Kubernetes environments: Operate and maintain Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters, including upgrades, workload health, scaling, resource management, and platform reliability.
- Onboard new applications: Partner with development teams to containerize applications, configure deployments using Kubernetes manifests or Helm, and establish networking, secrets, monitoring, and release processes.
- Manage Azure infrastructure: Support compute, networking, storage, identity, and security services, ensuring environments remain reliable, secure, and cost-efficient.
- Troubleshoot technical issues: Diagnose and resolve problems across applications, containers, Kubernetes, and Azure infrastructure. Perform root-cause analysis and implement lasting fixes.
- Automate operations: Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and routine operational tasks to reduce manual effort.
- Strengthen operational readiness: Maintain deployment documentation, runbooks, monitoring, and alerts, and collaborate with developers and security teams to ensure applications are production-ready.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly AKS, Azure Container Registry, virtual networks, load balancing, storage, Key Vault, managed identities, and Azure Monitor/Log Analytics.
- Solid practical knowledge of Kubernetes, including deployments, services, ingress, configuration and secrets management, persistent storage, RBAC, health probes, and resource limits.
- Experience with Docker, including writing Dockerfiles, building and troubleshooting images, and managing container registries.
- Good understanding of Linux, networking, DNS, HTTP/TLS, and application runtime dependencies.
- Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, along with scripting in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly, prioritize effectively during incidents, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Clear communication, ownership, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, using Terraform or Bicep.
- Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud fundamentals; deep AWS expertise is not required.
