The Role:
Amber Labs is seeking an AWS Technical Architect to join the Artificial Intelligence team. This is a critical role in delivering and shaping cloud-based solutions, leveraging AWS technologies to support departmental objectives and ensure scalable, secure, and innovative infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of AWS cloud-based infrastructure and services within the Artificial Intelligence team.
- Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to ensure alignment with best practices, security standards, and organisational goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality AWS solutions.
- Oversee the creation and documentation of cloud architecture designs, infrastructure roadmaps, and technical specifications.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation within existing cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure AWS solutions are cost-effective, scalable, secure, and compliant with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
- Support the development of cloud governance frameworks and maintain operational excellence.
- Provide mentorship and technical direction to teams implementing cloud solutions.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong experience architecting solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS), including design, build, and deployment of cloud infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering scalable and secure cloud-based architectures, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
- Experience in supporting cloud migration strategies and transitioning systems to AWS.
- A proven understanding of AWS best practices, tools, and services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Experience working with agile methodologies and delivering solutions within a collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to innovate and optimise solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional/Associate).
- Knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) principles and standards.
- Experience in working within a UK Government or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with other cloud platforms or multi-cloud solutions.
