The Role
NorthBay Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Infrastructure Migration Engineer for a full-time, permanent role. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in migrating on-premises infrastructure to AWS and will play a key role in the successful transition of IT systems, applications, and data to the AWS cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage AWS infrastructure migration projects, moving on-premises systems to AWS cloud services.
- Assess existing on-premises infrastructure and design a comprehensive migration strategy.
- Utilize AWS services like MGN, EDR, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, TGW, Control Tower for the migration process.
- Leverage AWS migration tools such as AWS Migration Hub, CloudEndure, and Database Migration Service (DMS) for smooth transitions.
- Ensure minimal downtime during migration and validate successful migration.
- Optimize AWS infrastructure for cost efficiency, security, and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams during the migration process, including assisting with the configuration of on-prem infrastructure components like servers, firewalls, and routing.
- Develop and maintain documentation for migration processes, configurations, and architecture.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in AWS infrastructure migration, including server, database, and application migrations.
- Strong understanding of AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Subnets, TGW, VPN, IAM, Security, CloudWatch, etc.) and best practices for migration.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Application Migration Service, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), and similar tools.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex migration challenges.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Experience in designing cloud architectures and network security.
Preferred:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Certification
- Experience with multi-cloud migration strategies.
- Experience of working with a Cloud Consulting / Services Provider will be a big advantage
