We are seeking a skilled AWS Database Administrator experienced in managing and optimizing databases on the AWS platform. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Postgres, Redshift, and DynamoDB, with a focus on performance tuning both platforms and queries. Soft skills in leadership and coaching are also desired.
What You'll Do
- Manage and maintain Postgres, Redshift and DynamoDB databases on AWS.
- Optimize database performance through configuration tuning, index optimization, and query optimization.
- Implement and manage database backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor database health and performance metrics, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to design and implement database solutions that meet performance and scalability requirements.
- Stay updated on AWS database technologies and best practices, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.
- Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Own Procedures Around User Management.
- Own Procedures Around User Access.
- Be responsible for keeping multiple environments in sync.
- Experience with Database Version Control is a plus.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 7-10 years of proven experience as a DBA, specifically in AWS environments
- Proficiency in managing Postgres, Redshift, and DynamoDB databases.
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning techniques and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Self starter to learn on own.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- AWS certification(s) such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty is a plus.
Location: This is a remote position. Candidate must be eligible to work in the state of Georgia. Will be expected to travel onsite 4-5 times per year.
