SMX is seeking creative technical problem solvers who can develop solutions with our clients. We are looking for a Cloud Data Engineer who has hands-on experience with using AWS technologies and solid RDMS experience related to data migration, modeling, and optimization. This person will be closely collaborating with the Cloud Data Architect and client data professionals to produce creative solutions. This position is a remote position supporting a Washington, DC team. Must be willing to work EST time zone hours, but maybe required to work off-hours based on client needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist Data Architect and customer (data scientists) in collecting requirements and documenting tasks for maintaining and enhancing data loading platform (ETL / data pipelines), emphasizing performance and data quality.
• Implementation of data loading and quality control activities as prescribed by project requirements and/or customer tickets.
• Implementation of CI/CD pipelines in support of both infrastructure and data loading activities related to data warehouse maintenance.
• Coding and implementation of unique data migration requirements based on AWS technologies such as DMS and Lambda/Python.
• Implementation and problem resolution for end user identity and access management to various data sets in Postgres, Redshift, and SQL server platforms.
Required Skills:
• Two + years of experience
• Expertise in complex SQL
• AWS knowledge
• Solid RDBMS concepts (Postgres, RedShift, SQL Server), logical data modeling, database/query optimization
• AWS data migration tools (DMS)
• Scripting/Python/lambda knowledge
• Version control and CI/CD knowledge (Git, TFS, Azure DevOps. Etc.)
• Awareness of network authentication and authorization protocols (Kerberos, SAML/OAUTH)
• Some network knowledge
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. US Citizenship is required.
• Strong team collaborator and communicator
Desired Skills:
• AWS related certifications
Education and Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

The proposed salary for this position is:
$124,300—$186,500 USD
