AWS API Solutions Architect
A-TEK, and its subsidiary, Mackson Consulting, are at the forefront of digital innovation, offering advanced IT services and solutions with a focus on emerging technologies. We specialize in supporting health, federal civilian, and national security missions, serving a diverse array of U.S. Departments.
We are looking for an experienced and visionary AWS API Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and cloud-native API solutions supporting digital modernization efforts across multiple FDA programs. This role is central to enabling seamless interoperability between mission-critical systems by leveraging the full spectrum of AWS services—from serverless architecture to event-driven integration patterns. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in API design, authentication frameworks, and DevOps practices, along with a strong understanding of compliance requirements in public sector environments. Responsibilities:
- Design and build enterprise-scale APIs using AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, AppSync, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
- Develop reusable, standards-based integration patterns leveraging AWS best practices for serverless and microservices architecture.
- Architect secure authentication and authorization flows (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML) across API and backend services.
- Lead the design and implementation of high-availability, fault-tolerant API services with global scalability.
- Define and implement API lifecycle management best practices (versioning, testing, deployment, monitoring).
- Collaborate closely with platform teams (Appian, Salesforce, ServiceNow) to ensure seamless system interoperability.
- Build and optimize AWS CI/CD pipelines using CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudFormation, and related DevOps tooling.
- Monitor and troubleshoot APIs using CloudWatch, X-Ray, and third-party observability platforms.
- Guide technical teams through code reviews, performance tuning, and secure API architecture principles.
- Participate in architecture review boards, design discussions, and sprint planning sessions.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in solution architecture with a strong emphasis on APIs and integration.
- 3+ years hands-on AWS experience architecting serverless and microservices solutions.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) required; AWS Developer certification a plus.
- Strong understanding of REST, GraphQL, event-driven integration, and hybrid API environments.
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock or other AWS GenAI services a strong plus.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Appian, Salesforce, ServiceNow, or M365 for cross-system integration.
- Working knowledge of compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, HIPAA) in public sector environments.
