Job Responsibilities

Finance Team is looking for an experienced and driven Financial Control and Regulatory Reporting Manager. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of financial reporting and APRA reporting standards, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven ability to interpret, bridge the gap between technical requirements and business needs.

The role includes (but not limited to) the following responsibilities:

  • End to end financial control and regulatory reporting for the Australian Branch.
  • Manage and deliver the month end process. Ensure accurate and timely financial reports are prepared and presented.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly regulatory returns in compliance with APRA requirements. Serve as the primary interpreter of complex APRA EFS and prudential reporting instructions, converting them into clear, actionable business requirements.
  • Lead and support technical accounting matters, including new product approval.
  • Contribute to improving the financial control environment. This includes (but not limited to): review the finance processes for standardisation & automation and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance internal controls.
  • Collaborate with finance and other cross-functional teams to effective internal controls through the Australia Branch. This includes Operations, Product Control, Businesses stakeholders etc.
  • Coordinate the year end audit with Auditors and Australia Branch personnel.
  • Assist with operational matters (e.g. accounts payable, payments and fixed assets) as required
  • Ad hoc projects as required.

People

  • Provide coaching and training to local finance team, other support units or business areas to develop understanding of finance requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain close engagement with key stakeholders including Head of Finance, Local Branch Management, Group Finance colleagues etc.
  • Proven ability to engage, influence and manage diverse stakeholders across Business, Finance and Risk teams

Experience

  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience in audit, financial control or regulatory reporting role in a financial services or Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Demonstrated experience in APRA regulatory reporting, including Economic and Financial Statistics (EFS) reporting and/or statistical reporting obligations.
  • Hands-on experience supporting or leading regulatory reporting implementation, reporting transformation, governance uplift, controls enhancement, remediation, or reporting automation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of APRA reporting frameworks, reporting controls, data governance, and regulatory reporting operating models.
  • ADI or foreign ADI banking experience is essential.
  • Chartered Accountant/ CPA qualification required.
  • Postgraduate academic qualifications such as MBA or Masters are highly regarded.
